Konami has officially confirmed what rumors had hinted for some time: Observer and The Medium developer Bloober Team is developing a remake of Silent Hill 2. A teaser trailer for the project opened the company's Silent Hill Transmission livestream event. On consoles the game will be exclusive to the PS5 for at least 12 months, though it will also release on PC.

The trailer features Silent Hill 2 protagonist James Sunderland walking around the fog-choked town of Silent Hill in search of his wife, Mary. Also sighted are monsters like the writhing nurses and Pyramid Head.
Though in development by Bloober Team, the remake project involves Masahiro Ito, who served as art director on the original version of the game. According to Ito, Konami approached him about participating in the remake three years ago, dating the Silent Hill 2 remake to as early as 2019. Composer Akira Yamaoka is also involved. He said that the remake will have a "new musical style", and that they hope to balance pleasing existing fans with drawing in new ones.
Members of Bloober Team also delivered a brief presentation to talk up the effort, and spoke of recreating what made Silent Hill 2 so well-regarded, while still providing some modernizations. Some behind-the-scenes footage showed off ongoing performance capture work.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is in development, and will land on PS5 and PC. Konami has not confirmed a release window for it as of yet.
